Aloo Out

My hubby, Sam, said to me yesterday afternoon, “get dressed, we’re going somewhere ( I was in my pajamas, don’t judge me).” We ended up at the Indian grocery store. He had very sweetly decided he was going to make me dinner, a new dish we had never tried. Yay! We had a few momentsContinue reading “Aloo Out”

Tomato Recipe #3

I was wandering the internets looking for something make using my tomatoes. Nothing too complex or that uses meat. Something that would fill me up and be delicious. I came upon a tomato, basil and caramel used onion Quiche that I decided to go with. You can find it here: https://themodernproper.com/tomato-basil-and-caramelized-onion-quiche I opted to goContinue reading “Tomato Recipe #3”

Tomatoe Recipe #2

Ok, to be fair, this isn’t a recipe. It’s not complicated nor does it use a lot of ingredients. It’s basically just a Caprese salad. Instead of Mozzarella I used Burrata, which is almost like Mozzarella but creamier on the inside. I then drizzled some Balsamic Reduction on top and called it a day. WhenContinue reading “Tomatoe Recipe #2”

Tomato Recipe #1

Now that I’ve started harvesting my lovely tomatoes, I need to figure out what to do with them all before they go bad! Tonight I kept it simple, making spaghetti with tomato sauce. I chopped up about 4 tomatoes and tossed them in to a sauce pan with vegetable broth. I let that cook forContinue reading “Tomato Recipe #1”

Stuffed Mushrooms

I am one lucky girl. I will be sitting on the couch with my husband when he starts furiously googling and then tells me he is going to cook me something. He usually asks if that is ok. Ummmm, yeah it is! Last night he got inspired and decided to use the portobello mushrooms IContinue reading “Stuffed Mushrooms”

Easy Bake Eggs

I guess this would be considered a frittata? I’m not sure, but either way it was a winner. I was looking for a way to make an easy egg dish that doesn’t require making a big mess. No oil splashes or burnt food on the stovetop that you just cleaned! I used a quarter ofContinue reading “Easy Bake Eggs”

Smoked Tofu ( and salmon)

Inspired by Hell’s Kitchen, Sam(the hubby) has been working on his presentation with food. He practiced a few times making this meal before making it for my parents. It came out great! Smoked salmon with wilted spinach, blanched tomatoes and honey mustard sauce. For me he made smoked tofu. It looked beautiful and was delicious.Continue reading “Smoked Tofu ( and salmon)”

Michelin Style Food

The hubby and I enjoy binge watching Hells Kitchen and it has influenced us many times. From learning certain techniques to trying different meals. Recently we’ve made ratatouille and risotto. Well, the hubby is at it again! He’s decided he wants to up his cooking game, especially since he wants to impress the in-laws (Continue reading “Michelin Style Food”

Easy Leftover Stir-Fry

Do you have leftover meats/proteins? Vegetables that may start to turn? Cooked rice that’s just been sitting in the fridge? Make a stir-fry! I love stir-fries. I probably make at least one every two weeks. They’re easy and you can throw in basically anything that you want. I usually look for leftover vegetables that willContinue reading “Easy Leftover Stir-Fry”

Gourmet Mushroom Risotto

Risotto. So delicious! So creamy! It transports me back to my study abroad in Italy. It makes me think of cobble stone streets, large grand avenues, beautiful architecture and melodic language. Great wine ( especially for a 21 year old!) and even greater food. While watching Hell’s Kitchen, we saw all the chefs struggling toContinue reading “Gourmet Mushroom Risotto”
