Esther’s Follies

Esther’s Follies is an institution in Austin. It is sort of like a variety or vaudeville show. The theater is clearly a former storefront with large picture windows and the weirdest/coolest decorations. The show itself is made up of different skits. It is mostly a comedic musical of sorts based on politics and local/national news.Continue reading “Esther’s Follies”

Craft

There is a really cool place here in Austin called Craft. It is a crafter’s dream. All of the art supplies you could dream of and more, are super organized in large studio. The best part? You get to have fun, be creative, make a mess but don’t have to clean it up after!! TheContinue reading “Craft”

Doorknob Covers

When my Mother-in-Law asked me to make her some doorknob covers, I said, huh? I didn’t know that was a thing! I started googling ( after I said yes, of course), and found it’s quite common for several reasons: to keep naughty children from opening doors they shouldn’t, decoration, and wall dents/scratches. Macramé Wall Hanging

Despite the fatigue from making my round table runner in macramé, I was still inspired to continue working in the medium. I think I enjoy keeping my hands busy at night while watching tv. So I decided to try my hand at a wall hanging. I see them in fancy designed homes and always wantedContinue reading “Macramé Wall Hanging”

Smoked Tofu ( and salmon)

Inspired by Hell’s Kitchen, Sam(the hubby) has been working on his presentation with food. He practiced a few times making this meal before making it for my parents. It came out great! Smoked salmon with wilted spinach, blanched tomatoes and honey mustard sauce. For me he made smoked tofu. It looked beautiful and was delicious.Continue reading “Smoked Tofu ( and salmon)”

Austin Opera

Yay! My parents are here! It feels like forever since we have seen them. They came down to celebrate my mom’s birthday and Mother’s Day. To celebrate, we went to the Opera on Sunday night. The wonderful and dramatic ( like all operas) Tosca by Puccini. It was the first performance since the opera hadContinue reading “Austin Opera”

Michelin Style Food

The hubby and I enjoy binge watching Hells Kitchen and it has influenced us many times. From learning certain techniques to trying different meals. Recently we’ve made ratatouille and risotto. Well, the hubby is at it again! He’s decided he wants to up his cooking game, especially since he wants to impress the in-laws (Continue reading “Michelin Style Food”

Macrame Update

I was really hoping that I would be finished by the end of the weekend… But no, I am not. Sigh. To be honest this project is starting to drag on me a little bit. It is very time consuming, making little knots round and round and around. It’s not so bad when watching tv,Continue reading “Macrame Update”
