Tomatoe Recipe #2

Ok, to be fair, this isn’t a recipe. It’s not complicated nor does it use a lot of ingredients. It’s basically just a Caprese salad. Instead of Mozzarella I used Burrata, which is almost like Mozzarella but creamier on the inside. I then drizzled some Balsamic Reduction on top and called it a day. WhenContinue reading “Tomatoe Recipe #2”

Purple Heart Tomatoes

I’m pretty new to this whole gardening thing. Green, if you will. last year, like a lot of people, because of the pandemic, the hubby and I decided to start a garden. In fact, I have something embarrassing to admit… We thought our mint plant was tomatoes and vice versa 😂. We couldn’t understand whyContinue reading “Purple Heart Tomatoes”

Holy Cucumber!

My husband was outside while I was upstairs one day. When I came down the stairs, there, sitting on the kitchen counter was a giant cucumber. Huh? Where did this come from and why was it just sitting there? I was so confused. Was this in the fridge and I didn’t know about it? IContinue reading “Holy Cucumber!”

Who is excited for side salad?

This girl!! See those beautiful leaves we’ve got? Yeah, that’s fresh from the garden spinach and arugula. We’ve paired it with broccoli and quiche, but the real star here is the greens! I tossed a little balsamic vinaigrette on top and it was delicious. Bright, tasty and packed with vitamins. I felt like Popeye! I’mContinue reading “Who is excited for side salad?”

The Garden is Growing!

Is there anything better than watching (literally) the fruits ( ok vegetables) of your labor? We are getting very excited by the baby veggies that are starting to appear. Little string beans, the start of tomatoes, and little bits of bell pepper. It was a tough start with the freak snowstorm in Texas which basicallyContinue reading “The Garden is Growing!”

Texan Wildflowers

Before I moved here, images of tumbleweed blowing in the streets and ranches with cows used to fill my head when I thought of Texas. While cow-filled ranches are certainly a common sight here, what I didn’t expect to see was greenery and lots of wildflowers. In fact, the state flower is a bluebonnet, whichContinue reading “Texan Wildflowers”

Painted Lavender Pots Round 1

After looking at how wonderful the lavender is doing, I decided it was time to give them room to grow. I want my pretty lavender to continue to flourish and hopefully flower! I love my plain white ceramic pots because they have so much potential, but there were no holes in the bottom. Luckily, theContinue reading “Painted Lavender Pots Round 1”

Lavender Update

It’s been a while since I updated y’all on my lavender plants. I started them maybe about a year ago at this point? It was around the time that COVID began making the rounds. Gosh, has it been that long already?? Anyway, there were several attempts made and a bunch that were unsuccessful, but weContinue reading “Lavender Update”

Plants planted!

I am excited to share with you that our little seedlings have left the nest! Sam ( my husband) built an absolutely humongous wooden planter box. It has been glued, nailed, drilled, lined and stapled. There was some hard work that went in to it but it looks pretty awesome! We carried it out ofContinue reading “Plants planted!”
