The last time I hung out with someone was close to Halloween! It is crazy to think about how long we’ve been in isolation.
I am lucky to have friends who are just as cautious as I am, which puts my anxiety at ease over COVID. Our friends sit across from us on the driveway, bring their own food and drink, and don’t go inside our house for any reason, including to visit the bathroom. We’re not trying to be mean, we are just careful and our friends understand and respect this. They feel the same way! Plus they live about five minutes away, so if there was a need for the restroom it isn’t a big deal.
All I can say is, it is so wonderful to be able to look someone in the eye and chat in person, even if it is from a distance.
We set up chairs and TV trays on both sides of the driveway, Lysoling the side my friends would sit on. In between, we put our brand new fire pit. It was a lovely evening, if a little bit cold, but a blanket and a fire were perfect. Now that it is becoming warmer and lighter out, I am hoping to continue this practice with more friends soon.
I hope we can all begin connecting with those we love soon, more and more as vaccinations become more widely available!
